Let the Family Arrive & The Party Begin!

Almost ALL of Lara's Brazil side of the family came to Marcos & Bete's new house for the weekend to have a BBQ and get to meet Lara! I am so glad that we were able to be here so that Lara could meet everyone, and so that everyone could meet Lara!

These pictures are not in the best order... but the blogger is being difficult, so here they are! I don't have near as much time to do this anymore, so you'll have to take what you get! ;-)

Sweet girl! - Daddy was holding her in the carrier while all her cousins were playing on the playground! - "My fingers taste so good Mommy!"

Matteos swinging on the playground! It is going to be so fun to have this place when Lara gets just a little older! It's just at the end of the street from Marcos & Bete's house.

All the cousins playing in the grass!

Haha - They were having fun!

Rafael & Luca - Such cuties!

I can't wait for Lara to be this age! They were having so much fun! But... I'm not quite ready for her to grow up yet either...

Attempt at a family portrait... I realize that we don't have very many of the three of us together... Lara wasn't cooperating very well!

Meeting Tia Cibele! Lara was so happy with whoever was holding her! She was such a trooper!

The Family arrives! Yes, I realize that this picture probably should have been first... but you know, who has the time for reorganizing! ;-)

My pretty girl - just watching everything that was going on!

Meeting Aunt Regina and getting kisses from Luca & Sofia! Love this picture!

Rafael showing us the berries

Cute Sofia

Daddy & Lara were having fun! Love that smile!!

Marcos, Lucas, Bete, Me & Lara! :-)

This grandma LOVED this little girl, but who wouldn't!?

Lara's only real Aunt!!! She loved her Aunt Luiza!! She is going to be the best Aunt a girl could ever ask for!

Lara & her cousin Carol

Just threw this one in there because it's cute!

Lucas & his Aunt Cibele

Sofia & Lara! All the kids loved Lara!

Lucas & his Uncle

Just some of the fam. We forgot to get a picture of everyone before they started leaving... But here we have Rafael, Daniel, Lucas, Neto, Sofia, Me, Regina, Bete & Marcos

We had such a great time seeing everyone! And I had more pictures than I knew what to do with!!! I'm sure I'll get around to posting more soon (or later...)! :-)

Meeting the First of the Family!

The first night that we arrived, we had several family members come and visit! Aunt Dora, Uncle Celso, Aunt Janete, and cousins Roberta, Gerson and Julia. We were all exhausted, but we had a great time chatting and letting everyone meet a very sleepy, slightly grumpy Lara!

Bete and Lara the first morning we were there. We had to get everything ready for all of the family that was going to arrive in just a couple of hours for a BBQ.

We finally made it!

After 24 hours of traveling, we finally made it to Lucas' parents' house! We were so glad to finally be there! We were all exhausted, but never too exhausted to spend some time visiting and getting a tour of the new house and neighborhood.

Vovo and Lara - Bete was more than excited to finally get to see Lara! She didn't make the trip to the airport to get us, so she was waiting for us when we arrived!

Me and Lara relaxing in the hammock. This became one of her favorite spots - She is so tired in this picture... poor baby... but what a trooper!

Walking around Marcos & Bete's new yard! So awesome!

Me & Lara

Grandpa showing Lara all of the flowers. She loved looking at them and trying to pull them off...

So happy to be there!

After we arrived, Lara's Aunt Dora, Uncle Celso, Aunt Janete, and cousins Roberta, Gerson & Julia came to meet Lara and eat a little dinner.

On Our Way to Brazil!!!

On April 8, we set off for Nashville, with too much luggage and Lara in tow! Hailey was staying with our friends Scott & Ruthanne and their boys Lincoln & Carter (This is Hailey's favorite place to stay!) I was very anxious about the trip. Lara's first time on a plane, going out of the country and meeting her whole Brazilian side of the family! I was afraid it would be too overwhelming for her (and for me!) but everything turned out great! And she did better than I ever could have imagine!

We drove to Nashville, about a 2 hours drive, and visited with my Aunt Glenda & Uncle Kenneth for a while. This was their first time meeting Lara, so we had a great time! We took them out to eat at Chili's and then they drove us to the Airport. Thank you guys!

Here is Lara and I waiting in the airport. Having this carrier was SO nice for the trip!

Watching the planes take off!

She fell asleep like this! Ha!

Anyways, here is Lara snoozing in the sling before we got on the plane to go to Houston.

Lara woke up as soon as we got on the plane!

She was mesmerized by the air vent that was blowing air in her face! It was so funny to watch her! What a cutie!

We flew from Nashville to Houston. We were supposed to have a short layover and then on to our long flight to Sao Paulo. Well, when we got to the gate, it showed that the flight was delayed an hour... Boo... this meant an even later bedtime for Lara... At least we had time to eat at Panda Express! Oh how I wish we had one of those in Huntsville!

Anyways, we got on the plane and promptly asked for the bassinet that hooks to the wall so that Lara could go to sleep. (This is the most fabulous invention ever by the way!) Well, the flight attendants informed us that we couldn't hook it up until after we took off. Once we were airborne, we asked again for the bed for the extremely tired 3 month old baby that was about to get REALLY fussy... they then informed us that they would have to wait until the pilot turned off the fasten seat belt sign before they could hook it up... About 30 minutes later, fasten seat belt sign is still on and still no bed for Lara... We asked yet again and they said that now it was too late and they would have to serve dinner first. So, we were then trying to both eat dinner while holding tired, fussy Lara. Let's just say this mommy started to get mad, and against Lucas' judgement, I decided to give the flight attendant a piece of my mind. I've been told I was rude, but I don't care, Lara was tired and crying and I just wanted her to get a bed!!!! Well, after I let my opinion be known, that bed was up in about 30 seconds ;-) Lara slept the whole rest of the flight!!!! Yay! :-)

Here is Lara's make-shift bed! We put blankets over the top to make her "think" that it was dark. It must have worked because she slept from about 11:30-7:00! Yay!

Waking up!

I'm glad to know that at least one of us got some sleep on the long flight! (Hint: it wasn't me!)

We have arrived!!!!! Here we are in the airport in Sao Paulo! Love this picture, even if we do look a little scary since we had been traveling already for 20+ hours!

One happy Grandpa! He hadn't seen Lara since she was 2 weeks old! How much she has changed since then!

On the way to Lucas' parents NEW house!!! We were so excited to get to see it!

Lara says, "Seriously mom, are you really going to make me travel MORE?!" We had a 2 hours drive from Sao Paulo to Piracicaba.

She fell asleep in about 2 minutes... :-)

We stopped by the university to call my parents to let them know we had made it safely, since Lucas' parents didn't have internet at the new house yet.

Here is Lara in her Grandpa's office!

More pictures to come, but here were a few to hold those of you who have been asking over! :-)

Yay for Warm Weater!

Lara is really enjoying her exersaucer! She is learning how to do more on it every day!

The weather really started getting nice before we headed out for our trip to Brazil. We enjoyed as much outside time as we could

Lara fell asleep in the carseat on our walk! She decided to wake up for the picture... Poor tired girl!

Annie & Jace! We sure are going to miss our Wednesday Greenway walks... :-(

First time feeling the grass...

I'm not sure that she was too thrilled about it. She did think it was pretty cool to dig her fingers in the dirt... I didn't think about that before I laid her down there!

Brazil pictures will be up soon, I promise!
