Strawberry Picking - Take 3

We made a go at strawberry picking for one third and final time for the season, because Lucas wanted to go, and I thought that SURELY Lara would enjoy it more each time we went... Well, she still wasn't thrilled, but we had a good time anyways, and now have more strawberries that we know what to do with!  Thankfully they freeze well and we'll be making LOTS of smoothies this summer to beat the heat!

Mari's got a pretty nice setup here! :-)

Running through the strawberry fields!

Lucas picking away!

Actually looking for some strawberries!

Best seat in the field :-)

Mari - 4 months old

Here is sweet  Mari at 4 months!

* She is still a great sleeper!  She usually goes to bed around 8:00-8:30 PM and wakes up around 7:30-8:00 AM.  I love that she loves to sleep :-)

* We've had a bit of a nursing strike this month, and she has decided that she absolutely will not take any type of bottle whatsoever... in other words I cannot go anywhere by myself for more than about 2 hours... Hopefully we'll get over this soon...  She eats about every 3-4 hours during the day.

* Her growth has seemed to plateau a bit this month and we are still in 3-6 or 6 month clothes and size 2 diapers.

* We don't go back to the doc for another month, but I think she probably weighs around 14-15 lbs.

* Mari has mastered flipping from her tummy to her back.  Every time I put her down for a nap, I have to go in at least 5-6 times to flip her back over because she gets so mad.  She is SO close to flipping back to her tummy... hopefully she'll figure this out soon! ;-)

* She has become quite the giggler and raspberry blower this month.  She LOVES her tongue.  Chewing on it, sticking it out, sucking on it... She's a funny girl!

* Mari talks to us all the time.  She loves to coos and boos and goos and gurgles.  So cute! :-)  This month we also learned how to scream, just to scream... she has some lungs on her and thoroughly enjoys hearing her scream echo through the house! :-)

* She is still my sweet cuddle bunny!

* We made our second trip to Texas in July.  I made the solo drive with both girls.  It wasn't as bad as I anticipated, but it was still pretty rough... I would do it again though.  It was really nice to get to spend some time with family and have a whole lot of time to relax!  And, just in case you were wondering, she still screams in the car... a LOT... ;-)

* Mari has gotten extra strong this month.  We have pulled out the bumbo and the Exersaucer and she loves being able to sit up and look around! Her legs are getting strong too.  One of her favorite things to do is "walk" around the room while holding my fingers... I keep telling her to slow down, that she's not old enough to be doing that yet... she's apparently not listening...

* Lara is really enjoying the fact that Mari can hold onto and grab things now.  There are many times that I walk out of a room and then back in and Lara has made Mari something to eat from her kitchen or given her an animal to play with.  She is so sweet with her sister.  I hope the love continues...

* Her favorite toy this month is her Bunny blanket rattle that her Aunt Kim and Uncle Mike gave her!  She also really likes her play mat that we hang things from.  She likes being on her tummy or her back to play and is becoming quite the expert and getting what she wants.  She has even started scooting across the floor a little already!

Playing with Sister!

Now that Mari can hold onto things, Lara finds great joy in making Mari part of her pretend play (as long as Mari lets go when Lara wants her too... we'll have to work on that!)  I love that she includes her sister, and Mari seems thrilled doesn't she?! ;-)

Eggs anyone?

Haha! :-)

Carrots and spoons and eggs, oh my! :-)

Lara wanted this picture taken because they matched this day :-)

Loves holding her baby sister, even when she's crying!

Lara at 2.5 years!

Is it really possible that this beautiful, crazy, silly girl is 2 and a HALF years old!  There is not much baby left in this baby, and that makes me so sad, but I love, love, love, love the age that she is (most days anyways!)

Here is what Lara is up to lately!

* We are L-O-V-I-N-G summer!  We are spending most of our time outside playing in the pool, doing chalk, blowing bubbles, going to the park, or going to play in the fountains at a local outdoor mall.  Lara asks almost as soon as we get up if it's time to go outside yet!  Love it!

* I love that she loves to talk. All. The. Time!  Her vocabulary keeps growing daily and I'm always amazed when she comes up to me and starts talking about riding the escalators or playing on her calculators or picking her squash and zucchini out of the garden.  She definitely has something to say about everything around her!

* She says the funniest things all the time, and she knows that she's funny! ;-)  I really need to start writing things down, because I can't ever remember the things she's told us that make us laugh so hard!

* Her favorite things to do lately are playdoh, stickers and puzzles.  Between these three activities, I think she could be happy pretty much all day long :-)

* She's recently starting having a real interest in helping me bake and cook.  She likes to help me measure everything out and then dump it in, and she is always so excited to see what the finished product will be!  Her favorites to help me with are lasagna, cookies and zucchini bread!

* We started our very own garden this year, and she has gotten more out of it than I ever could have imagined!  She helped make the garden, then plant all of the plants, and has been LOVING watching everything grow.  She gets SO excited everyday when we go out to check on the garden and loves helping find and pick the ripe "matoes" and zucchini!

* She has proven to be a GREAT big sister.  She always lets me know when Mari is crying (as if I didn't already hear her!) and always wants to know if she can go make her feel better.  She loves giving her hugs and kisses and bringing her toys and trying to make her giggle!  She is really gentle (most of the time) and I'm excited to see how their relationship grows as they get older, although I do have the realistic view that things will not always be so bright and cheery as I'm sure LOTS of fighting will happen!

* She is such a fantastic eater.  She eats everything that we eat, and is pretty great about trying new things. She is always pretty excited about eating the tomatoes and zucchini from the garden.  She wants a "spinage lettuce salad with RED matoes from the garden and pink dip" pretty much every day for lunch :-)

* I know there is SO much more, but this is all I can come up with right now!  ha!

Perfect picture of silly Lara :-) Love this sweet girl!

Mari - 3 months!

I can't believe this sweet girl is already three months old!  The time sure is flying by!!!

Here are a few things that Mari is up to at 3 months!

* She is a FABULOUS sleeper!  She usually goes to bed between 8:30 and 9:30 and wakes up around 7 AM.  I love that she loves to sleep :-)

* She is also a great eater, nursing like a champ.  She eats about every 3-3.5 hours during the day.

* She's a big girl and is already in size 3-6 or 6 month clothes and size 2 diapers.

* At 2.5 months she weighed 12 lbs. 13 oz, but I can't remember how long she was!

* Mari has been a nap time tummy sleeper since day 1.  Shh... don't tell!  I'm pretty sure this is against the rules, but she loves it, so what can I say?  She does still love to be in her little swaddle burrito for her long sleeping stretch at night.

* She learned how to flip from her tummy to her back about a month ago.  For at least one nap a day, I'll hear her let out this huge scream.  I'll check on her, and she is just mad that she flipped herself on her back and can't get back to her tummy... silly girl!

* She has been smiling for a while now, but we are just now starting to get some great giggles!

* Mari talks to us all the time.  She loves to coo and goo and gurgle.  So cute! :-)

* She is such a cuddler (which Lara definitely was NOT!) So I am really enjoying that she likes to fall asleep on me, but also that she can easily fall asleep in her own bed too!

* She loves to be carried in my Moby wrap, and I'm really not sure how I would function without it!  It is pretty imperative that I have 2 free hands while we're out and about!

* She is pretty much the most easy going, sweet baby that never cries.... unless you stick her in her carseat, and then oh my... You would think that we were torturing her... I've heard that this is payback for how I used to be in my carseat.... hmmm...

* We made our first trip to Texas in May (which if you see the bullet above was... interesting...)  We did have a great time seeing and meeting lots of new friends and family!

* And I am planning on making a solo trip with the girls later this week to Texas again... I know, I know... everyone keeps telling me I'm crazy (again see point above...) but I think we'll be just fine!  :-)

* Mari is getting so strong and holding her head up so well... I'm enjoying every minute of this baby phase... because it goes by too quick.  It is so nice to be able to enjoy things more the second time around since I'm not so worried about every little thing!
