18 Months Post

Well, maybe I should say 16, 17 and 18 month post! I think I might be a bit behind on my posting! Lara has changed SOOOO much since her 15 month post on here... It's amazing how much she is changing and learning every day... It's hard to keep up!

Here are just a few of the fun things she is doing at 18 months! I am REALLY loving this age!

• Lara has 12 teeth :-) She has all four molars now, so she can finally chew! Yay!

• Lara is still learning signs at school, and usually says the word to go along with them. She is getting really good at the signs for colors now (blue, yellow, red, purple, black, white, orange, and green). Most of the time she just says what she wants now, but still does the signs for more, please, bird, milk, drink, thank you, help, gentle, wait, Amen and dog every time that she says them.

• She can point to and say most of her colors now. She knows black, white, yellow, red, orange, blue, green, pink, purple and sometimes silver (on our LONG drive home with all of the traffic in our area because of the construction now, we say the colors of all the cars we pass) She is even starting to say the color and the type of car. i.e. Red truck, yellow tractor, white car

• Lara can tell me what most any animal is now and what it says. She likes to play a game now where I ask her if she is being a monkey and she says, "Monkey - Ah, Ah!" It is just about the cutest thing ever! I need to get a video of it soon, since she never performs on Skype or in person for anyone! ;-) She calls a lot of animals by the sound they make but will usually repeat the name if I ask her. (i.e. when she sees a cow she says "Moo-moo" :-)

• Her favorite book changes by the day, and she still loves to read. She will bring us book after book after book! She likes to sit and read them to herself now too. It is hilarious to watch her read them. One of her books, "Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can you?" she reads it like this, "alskdjf[oiwerj;klwje MOOMOO" then turns the page and says "a;sdlkfjo[awiejrweoij BZZZZZ!" It is hilarious and oh so cute :-)

• She still loves her puzzles! She is a pro at putting the pieces in! We might have to upgrade to some more difficult puzzles soon... She will dump all of the puzzles out and then put all of the pieces back in their respective puzzles. It amazes me everytime! She especially loves her alphabet puzzle.

• She has become very attached to her stuffed animal Chick-Chick, and wants him with her anytime that she is going to take a nap or go to sleep. He had to have his first surgery the other day, and one of his legs is slightly shorter than the other... oh well, at least he still has two legs! ;-) I've looked everywhere for a replacement and can't find one... hopefully he will stay together!

• She is getting really good at identifying her letters. She knows A, B, C, D, H, I, L, M, O, P, Q, S, W, X, and Y. She points them out on everything she sees now. She'll be reading in no time! ;-)

• Her vocabulary is taken off exponentially in the last couple months! She can say so many sounds and will repeat every letter of the alaphabet when we say it. It is so cute! She also repeats the last word of pretty much every sentence that we say... so we have to start watching what we say around her now... thankfully she doesn't repeat it later yet... but I'm sure that will come soon. Just the other day Lucas did something and said, "ah man, that sucks..." and then we heard from that sweet little mouth, "SUCKS!" haha - hilarious, but probably inappropriate! ;-)

• She's knows the name of everything. It amazes me more everyday how many words she knows. Every morning when we're getting dressed, she tells me "diaper" - she gets it and says "holdyou" so I can put it on her, then she says "tee-tee" since she went in the diaper, then says "potty" since she knows she's supposed to go in the potty. Then tells me "shirt", "shorts", or "dress" and "shoes". Seriously she knows the words for everything! ;-) Some of the words that she says that crack me up (either because I think it's funny that she knows the word, or because she says it so cute!) "Mulch", "Fan", "Yogurt", "Fruit Loop!", "Goldfish", "Lydee (Lydia)", "outside", "sprinkler", “Amen” and "hold you". She enunciates the end of all her words, which makes it easier to understand what she is saying, but makes me laugh everytime. She says "boo-t", "mil-k", "boo-k" - So cute :)

• Lara's Vovo is coming to visit us this month, so hopefully she will start picking up on her Portuguese more, although she does have several words!

• When we practice counting to 10 she will always say "Two" and "Seven" at the appropriate places. I can never get her to say "One" because I say one and she always says "Two!"

• We wake up most mornings hearing "Ma-ma! Holdyou!!!" - I think that she thinks that the when I say, "Lara do you want me to hold you", that it's one word because she always looks at us and says "Holdyou!" :-) Apparently I did the same when I was little.

• She LOVES to be "side" (outside). From the minute that she wakes up to the minute she goes to sleep she asks to go 'side about 100 times! she is also very concerned that Hailey gets to go outside enough. We have had to start locking the deadbolt at all times because she is a pro at opening the outside doors... although it is nice that I can say, Lara will you let Hailey in, and she will! But, when she gets tall enough to unlock the deadbolt, we might be in trouble! We are trying to teach her that we can ONLY open the door when Mommy and Daddy say it's ok :-) Most of the time she listens!

• Lara is becoming a pro at using her spoon and fork now! We of course still get messy, but she does a great job for an 18 month old!

• She is still a great sleeper and usually goes to bed around 7:30-8:00 and sleeps until 6:30-7:00. We weaned her off the paci at night this month, and most nights she has done great without it! Thankfully she's not that attached to it, so we can still pull it out if needed (like on a long 13 hour drive that is coming up soon...)

• Lara is a great helper. She likes to help us pick up her toys (most of the time) and walk around behind me with a wipe "cleaning" everything in sight ;-) Hopefully this love will stick around once she is actually old enough to have some chores of her own!

• Lara's favorite song right now is "Row, Row, Row your Boat (Granna's Version)" When we were on our cruise Granna taught her the song with the Lyrics "Row, Row, Row your boat gently out to sea, merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, Mommy, Daddy, Weeeeeeeeeeee!" Lara sings" Row, Row, Row, ;alkjdf[oaiwjer;lakwejf Mama, Daddy, Weeeeeee!"

• Lara gives the sweetest hugs and kisses!

I know there are about 15 other things that she is doing, but this is all I can remember right now! I'll update later if I remember any more, for the 3 of you who actually read this! Ha!
