Colorado - Rocky Mountain National Park

On Sunday we drove up to Estes Park to go through part of Rocky Mountain National Park and do a little hiking. It took us a little longer than expected to get there because there were lots of tourists in Estes Park (I kept forgetting that it was a holiday weekend!) The drive was beautiful of course and we took TONS of pictures of the hike and the drive that we took through the park.

Levi and Ashley looking out over the city of Estes Park - Beautiful!

Group shot as we entered Estes Park

Our first stop within the park was an elk viewing area. There were lots of people taking pictures, and the elk didn't seem too worried. It was so neat to be so close to the elk, and we got several pretty good pictures!

Walking to the elk viewing area - it was a little chillier up here than it was in Boulder! - Glad we brought some warmer clothes!

Elk!

Another view - So cool!

From the elk viewing area the plan was to drive up to the trailhead for Bear Lake. We were told that the parking lot was full so we would have to utilize the park and ride. It turned out to be really easy. You just park about half-way up and then take a shuttle up to where you want to go. There were several stops along the way that you could get off at and start your hiking.

View from the top!

Beautiful Bear Lake - The water was so clear and with the storm clouds rolling in, it was breathtaking!

Another view of the lake and the gorgeous view

Lucas taking a moment to admire the clear water and the view

Lucas and I posing for the camera - Look how clear the water is

Walking along the trail

Me posing - Look at the cool reflection - The sun was starting to come back out.

After leaving bear lake, the plan was to hike up to Alberta falls, although it was more hiking down to the falls for the most part rather than up. (Let me tell you I was not complaining about this... I didn't think about how much more difficult hiking would be with the altitude... granted I was also 26 weeks pregnant, but we'll blame it on the altitude!)

On the trail - Lucas insisted that I take a picture with the baby Aspen trees - So here is the picture Me with Baby Lara in the baby Aspen forest!

Standing on a bridge looking over a small stream

We made it - Alberta Falls

Lucas and Levi of course decided that they needed to hike over to the other side of the river to get some better pictures of the waterfall.

Sitting in awe enjoying the beauty that was this place!

Standing at the top of the falls looking out over where we hiked from - Beautiful!

On the way back to the shuttle, it started raining - Good thing Ashley and I were prepared! :-)

After we got back down to the car, we decided to drive along the road that goes through Rocky Mountain National Park. We drove until we got to the highest point and then turned around and came back.

Beautiful rainbow that we saw as we were driving along the road - I think we made a couple of people mad when we stopped in the middle of the road to get this picture - But if you are driving on this road, why would you not stop to see this beautiful sight? It was a scenic route!

Stopping at the top - It was getting colder the higher we went - Lucas generously let me borrow his sweatshirt - I was not thrilled about his insistance that we take a picture... as you can see from my face!

Look at those amazing mountains... with SNOW!!!

Awesome bird that say still long enough for Lucas to snap a picture - So close that it almost looks fake... but I assure you it was real!

Another beautiful view

As we were heading down from the highest point, it started getting cloudy, and then all of the sudden the sun broke through the crowds - I think that this picture turned out awesome!

When we got back to Estes Park we stopped at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory to get a few treats, then headed off in search of something to eat. We ended up at a Mexican restaurant that had the biggest buritos I had ever seen! I couldn't even eat half of it - And this is the pregnant lady speaking! :-)

After dinner we decided that it was time to head back to Boulder. Of course it took longer than expected to get back because there was a game (University of Colorado vs. Colorado State.) Now Levi and Ashley know that it does indeed get crowded in Boulder on college football game day!

Colorado - Perigo Kitchen Project

On Saturday afternoon Levi and Lucas decided to tackle the new countertop, sink and garbage disposal. I think they had a great time doing this project! Levi and Ashley have been making all kinds of renovations to their new house! It looks SO fabulous! I can't wait to go visit again and see all of the progress that they make! Congrats on the house guys!

First picture after they pulled out the old countertop and sink

Old sink and counter top is now outside

All done!! Their brand new kitchen! :-) Looks Great!

This is what Ashley and I did while the boys were working on the kitchen (besides taking pictures of course!) We relaxed.... :-)

Colorado - Farmer's Market and Boulder

On Saturday we slept in and went to the local Farmer's market. I don't have a lot of experience with farmer's markets except for the couple of times I have been to the local farmer's market here in Huntsville. We'll just say that there was much more selection and many more people at the one in Boulder! We had a great time just walking around and trying all of the samples.

There was also a festival going on, so we decided to eat lunch there. Lucas, Levi and I had philly cheese steak sandwiches, and Ashley branched out and got Fish Tacos. The food was wonderful of course! I think these little booths sometimes have the best food! We ended up buying Honey, bread and some highly over-priced chocolate covered organic almonds, but they were SO good, so we just had to! :-)

Ashley and I deep in conversation - Probably trying to figure out which sample to try next!

CROWDED Farmer's Market

After the Farmer's Market we walked over to Pearl Street and walked around. Lucas got a new Boulder, Colorado T-shirt, we saw many interesting musicians and "characters" and we made a final stop at Maiberry! It was such good frozen yogurt!! Too bad we don't have one here... although I think I would eat there far too often if we did!

Pearl Street - You can see part of the mountains in the background - I wish I had this view every day!!!

Levi pointing at the "tree" - SO random!

Me walking by the "tree" - It was a bit creepy...

Lucas and I - Pearl Street, Boulder, Colorado

These guys were playing some type of instrument... Not sure exactly what they are, but it was pretty cool. Boulder is definitely full of culture!

Ashley, Me and Levi - Posing for the camera

"Magician" in the middle of Pearl Street - We didn't stick around long enough to see him do anything too cool...

Colorado Trip!

Lucas and I decided to make a long weekend trip to Boulder, Colorado over Labor Day to see our friends Levi and Ashley who had moved there about 2 months ago! It was so nice to get to see them and to get away from home for a little bit!

Levi and Ashley were nice enough to come and pick us up from the airport in Denver. They even had a sign made up saying, "Lucas, Jen and Lara Welcome to Colorado!" What a great way to start our vacation! :-)

I'll post several different posts from all of our activities! I'm wishing we could have stayed forever, and now I understand exactly why Levi and Ashley decided to move there! It was SO beautiful! Can't wait to go back!

25 Weeks and a Name!

Here is the best picture I got from today - 25 weeks! Only 15 more weeks until our Sweet Little Girl gets here! :-) I am finally starting to feel like I look "pregnant" rather than just fat!

We have finally decided for sure on a name for our Little Girl!

Her name will be.....

Lara Grace

Lara (rhymes with Sarah) because we just like it and Grace after my Dad's mom (Nana).

We are excited to have finally decided on a name - Now we can call her Lara rather than just "Little Boo!"

We can't wait for you to get here Lara!
